The storyline of “The Stuff” revolves around a mysterious substance that is marketed as a low-calorie dessert. This substance quickly becomes the latest craze among consumers, who can’t get enough of its sweet and creamy taste. However, people soon begin to realize that there’s something strange about this dessert. The Stuff seems to be alive and capable of controlling people’s minds. Enter David “Mo” Rutherford (played by Michael Moriarty), an industrial spy who is hired to investigate The Stuff for a rival company.
As Mo delves deeper into the mystery behind The Stuff, he encounters various characters including ex-FBI agent turned corporate saboteur Colonel Malcolm Grommett Spears (played wonderfully by Paul Sorvino), conflicted advertising executive Nicole (played convincingly by Andrea Marcovicci), young boy Jason (played by Scott Bloom) who refuses to consume The Stuff much to his dad’s frustration.
