“Ice Age: Continental Drift” is a delightful animated feature that both parents and their children can enjoy. The series’ fourth installment follows the comic subzero trio, Manny, Diego and Sid, as they go on an adventure across the ocean. However, this time around, they’re separated from their herd and must brave the high seas with pirates.
What makes “Ice Age” stand out from other animated features is that it does not rely on pop culture references or modern-day jokes to get its humor across. Instead, the film’s humor comes from its characters’ witty dialogues and physical comedy. Manny (Ray Romano), Diego (Denis Leary) and Sid (John Leguizamo) are as sharp-tongued as ever, trading one-liners in rapid succession.
Aside from their wit, these characters are also endearing because of their distinct personalities. Manny is a gruff yet caring leader whose love for his family is unwavering; Diego is a tough tiger with a heart of gold; and Sid is an accident-prone sloth that makes up for his lack of intelligence with his loyalty to his friends.
